The correct diagnosis comprises the basis for the successful treatment of hair loss or the slowdown of the development of the condition over time, in case of a genetic form of hair loss, e.g. “Androgenetic Alopecia”. This is the reason why we have developed an integrated hair loss diagnosis system, which ensures:

-full medical diagnosis of the condition of the scalp and hair, through special tests

-personalized treatment medication,

-monitoring and prognosis on the development of the different types of alopecia

The hair loss diagnosis system of Ps Hair offers fast and effective conclusions on the condition of the scalp, by providing the attending physician with the most objective assessment of this condition, its prognosis, and development, as well as important information on preparing a personalized treatment medication.

It includes:

1.An overview and investigation of scalp skin and head hair.
The scalp skin and head hair are investigated with the help of a special digital camera, while, at the same time, conclusions are drawn on the general condition and the presence of skin diseases, such as:
Alopecias, scalp nevi, dermatitis, increased oiliness, fungal infections, scalp pityriasis, scalp psoriasis, monitoring of implanted follicles, hair stem damages, etc.
Moreover, the assessment of the results of the treatment medication that has been followed is enabled through periodic comparative examinations.

2.Densitometry (Counting hair density per square centimeter)
Through the high magnification achieved by the digital contact camera, the number of hair strings per square centimeter, and the number of hair follicles that hold one, two, or three hair strings are estimated. The conclusions of densitometry are utilized to evaluate the existence of alopecia or not, as well its deviation from the normal condition, the strength of the treatment medication to be selected, the evaluation of the effectiveness of the applied treatment through periodic comparative examinations, and the potential of the occipital hair (donor region), in case that the specific patient undergoes hair micro-implanting.


The diagnostic test is an integrated and effective system, since the exact condition of the scalp & and the hair is evaluated, and a series of valuable information is recorded, such as:

1. the presence of skin disease factors

2. the measurement of the activity of sebaceous glands

3. the study of hair loss-classification and aetiology

4. the identification of potential dysfunctions on the scalp or in hair

5. the identification of the proportional percentage of the stages of hair growth

6. the presence and proportional percentage of dystrophic hair

7. the identification of the diameter and other quality specifications of hair

8. the measurement of density (identification of hair follicles per cm2, and average number of hair per hair follicle)

9. the estimation of the rate of hair loss

10. the estimation of the future progress of hair loss and the future rate of thinning

      In addition to the above diagnostic methods, both in men, but especially in women, blood and hormonal tests may be also required. The diagnosis of Female Androgenetic Alopecia, which is described by the Ludwig scale, is the most straightforward method of diagnosis for hair loss in women.

   However, in a large number of cases, female hair loss is due to factors such as changes in hormone levels (normally during pregnancy and menopause), high stress, strict diets, anaemia, thyroid dysfunctions, and medications, and therefore, taking blood tests is often considered as necessary (possibly vitamin tests, mineral and trace element tests, etc. as well), and/or hormone tests, in order to identify the exact cause of hair loss. In some cases, a nutritional history is taken and a further specialized skin test is performed.
